چکیده

To confirm the language independency of a communicative prosody generation from input word impression vector, we synthesized communicative Mandarin speech using prosodic characteristics of communicative Japanese speech. The fundamental frequency and duration characteristics of oneword “n” utterances of Japanese were copied to Mandarin through input word attributes. From the subjective impressions of an input word, a three-dimensional vector was calculated through Multi-Dimensional Scaling analysis. Three dimensions reflecting impressions of confidentdoubtful, allowable-unacceptable and positive-negative correspond to systematic prosodic variations; F0 height, F0 dynamics and duration. Subjective evaluation of synthesized speech showed the possibility of communicative prosody generation from input word impression vector language independently.

Effects of compatible versus competing rhythmic grouping on errors and timing variability in speech.

In typical speech words are grouped into prosodic constituents. This study investigates how such grouping interacts with segmental sequencing patterns in the production of repetitive word sequences. We experimentally manipulated grouping behavior using a rhythmic repetition task to elicit speech for perceptual and acoustic analysis to test the hypothesis that prosodic structure and patterns of ...

Word segmentation in Persian continuous speech using F0 contour

Word segmentation in continuous speech is a complex cognitive process. Previous research on spoken word segmentation has revealed that in fixed-stress languages, listeners use acoustic cues to stress to de-segment speech into words. It has been further assumed that stress in non-final or non-initial position hinders the demarcative function of this prosodic factor. In Persian, stress is retract...

Glottalization of word-initial vowels as a function of prosodic structure

Earlier work on the glottalization of word-initial vowels sought an account in terms of the morphosyntactic hierarchy and isolated facts about stress , without accounting for the possible role of phrase-level prosodic structure . More recent work based on prosodic theory (Pierrehumbert & Talkin , 1992 ; Pierrehumbert , 1995) has shown that prosodic constituents and prominence are important fact...
